These ensembles revolve around the same members, depsite the ridiculous number of name changes. It's basically Pete and Mike
from the much missed Cozy Cat Club Band, alongside Laura Copsey, Laurie Bennett (exCozy), Ed Gillingwater (ditto) and Dayo
(Chahiro) joining in, depending on whose washing their hair or holding the baby. It's now split across the London/Norwich
divide, so you infrequently get the full compliment these days
The Plastic Flamingo(es)
Sheffield nu-folk band fronted by erstwhile Teknikov keyboardist/beer tester/arrogant genius/former Remove guitar hero/troubadour Dave
Cox. Chad plays drums, oddly enough.
Remove
Oxfordshire retro rockers who sang songs about preacher men at crossroads and going to Brighton on a scooter. Chad played
bass (busily) and guitar (badly). Dave played lead guitar and sometimes played the fool. Andy was a mess of junglistic rhythms
and prefecture. Some say they flew too close to the sun, others say good riddance. Once described by Melody Maker as
"The new sound of Garage rock...at least it sounds as if it was recorded in a garage!". What tosh. It was recorded in a barn.
Stampede
My as yet un-formed Country rock band. I've only got one song far though.
Chad Mason
Chad is currently working on a solo album, but this has taken him many years. It's all pretty much under wraps, but insiders
reckon it's going to involve a lot of lovelorn twanging and 34-part harmonies
The Portable Studio
When he isn't doing the above, Chad is recording music for the theatre, short films and other bands. He'd like to think
of himself as the next Phil Spector, but in reality is more of a musical Cecil B. Demented.
TONY
The Cold Front
...who are a proper band, with a single coming out and everything. Tony is the drummer and always looks like he's concentrating
really hard, bless him. Naomi (from the Pistolas) and Shane (from about 500,000 other bands) are the frontpersons. Think lo-fi,
think K Records, think mid-paced.
JOE
The Bloody Traitors
All will be revealed soon. What is known is that TBT don't use synths and also comprise Jen Hodgson on vocals (thus
assembling a North/East riding axis) and Gregg Morgan on drums (as a southern counterbalance)
Raised by Wolves
A space for anything, particularly found words and equipment. Sounds like the perfect Howlback band to me.
Chuck Ruby
Midi music to upset your flatmates
Crazy Golf
The only one of Joe's side projects that actually exists. Joe, Guitar, Pa system (optional)
OTHER STUFF
Teknikov spread it thin, past present and future. Tony attained a mention in the NME with Crest, Chad will prostitute
himself to anyone for a chance to play and Joe has featured in Fall From Six Miles (a precursor to Twisted Nerve's Luma Lane), in
addition a stage appearance with improvisers/electonicists Grundy and a forthcoming involvement with Roberte, who we
will merely term an "ensemble" for purposes of brevity.
