As you may have noticed from the news page (and if you're on this site, you probably know it all anyway), Teknikov are
a couple of members light at the moment. Lisa has moved to the Italian mountains to breathe fresh air and spread the joys
of the Northern European languages and Nick is, altruistically, buggering off to Africa to teach kids in Tanzania. And HK
Steve is teaching on yet another continent.
We are, therefore, in the process of instigating a new five year plan.
If you would like to work with Teknikov (in the studio, mostly, at least while we're preparing stuff for live shows),
consider the following.
LIKES: Teknikov are fans of many things but primarily the following...Joy Division+New Order/Sonic Youth/The
Who and their children/short songs/stopping and starting/Talking Heads/rock mythology/white noise/remixes/spoken word
parts/doing the least possible for the effect/knowing that there is a more commonly-used term for the preceding
item/sharp chords/hidden melodies/dancing
DISLIKES: straight off the peg garage rock (walking down the POW Road in matching leather jackets like a Lock Stock
Busted)/ Every monitor+borrowed amp+effects pedal that's ever screwed us over
PROS: we're actually, contrary to the rumours and self-mythologies, quite open-minded and that. As long as you don't
want bad reggae sections, ironic heavy metal guitars or stable referents (please don't mention fucking Stereolab, it's
getting exceedingly boring. I will yawn in the face of the next person who says that to me.)
CONS: we argue all the time. Chad is late for everything and I am early for everything, which I suppose makes Chad
cooler than me. don't bank on us getting anything done on days when City are playing on the telly. The car, much
as it has been of great service to us, has become notoriously unreliable of late. We talk a lot of spurious shite about playing
gigs in art galleries and that, obviously having been convinced by that "Norwich is my New York" commercial. Our stage persona
varies between music hall compere (Chad) and inappropriate swearing (me)
anyway, go to the contact bit and e-mail us and we'll be back to you.
cheers, Teknikov
